Hoses for industrial requirements: selection by application
The application decides which hose fits: the medium, the pressure, the temperature and the space at the installation site.
Which requirement calls for which hose
Industrial hoses differ in function, colour, shape, quality, pressure rating and resistance to media and temperature.
Internal pressure pushes on the wall. Fabric or wire in the wall resists it.
Outside air pressure pushes on the wall. The embedded helix keeps the hose open.
Pressure
A hose under internal pressure takes up the force through its wall, reinforced with embedded fabric or wire at higher pressures. For such applications JRT makes pressure and high-pressure hoses. Moulded hoses and bends are made with or without special fabric reinforcement.

Vacuum
During suction, outside air pressure presses on the hose wall, and a suction hose must not collapse under vacuum. For this JRT offers extraction, suction and spiral hoses. A typical application for suction and spiral hoses is material handling.

Media
The conveyed medium constantly touches the inside of the hose, so the material must resist exactly this medium. For aggressive media JRT makes chemical hoses and acid-resistant hoses, for vehicles oil and petrol hoses among others. If the medium comes into contact with food, JRT supplies hoses suitable for the food industry.

Temperature
The range includes heatable hoses. On a turbocharged engine the air is hot after the turbocharger and cooled after the intercooler. JRT supplies charge air hoses for the hot and the cold side and makes turbocharger and charge air hoses from high-temperature materials.

Weathering and ozone
Exposed lines face sun, weather and ozone. For air ducting JRT therefore supplies moulded hoses that resist weathering and ozone.

Installation space and movement
Where there is too little space for a pipe, moulded hoses and hose bends take over the routing, for example in cooling and lubrication systems of plants, engines, vehicles and machines. They are shaped to the individual requirements. Convoluted hoses have a folded wall and can therefore take up movement and offset between two connections.

For rubber and plastic hoses, DIN EN ISO 1307 sets the hose sizes, the minimum and maximum inside diameters and the tolerances for hoses cut to length. The current edition appeared in April 2008. The standard succeeds DIN 7715-4, the former tolerance part for hoses.
